About this blog

This blog is a place for personal reflections, on healing, movement, small acts of resistance, and things that still matter.

I’m Douglas Ireland, originally from the Manchester area. I’ve been living in the west of Scotland since 2016, and I’m now in my mid-40s. I started writing here as a way to step away from social media and reconnect with a slower, more grounded kind of expression. It’s quiet on purpose. No likes, no shares, no algorithms. Just words, when they’re ready.

I called it from the dial-up days because I miss the early internet. Slower, weirder, more human. This is my attempt to bring a little of that feeling back.

It’s not part of a hustle. Just a place to write things down.

You’ll find thoughts on recovery, the quiet politics of everyday life, and whatever else needs saying. Sometimes it’s serious. Sometimes it’s not. But it’s all real.

Thanks for reading.
